In view of the vast developments of the travel and tourism industry that led to the shortage of trained personnel, the management of the Hong Kong Travel & Tourism Training Centre felt that there was an urgent need for the setting up of such a training centre as they were fully aware that professional skills and knowledge were the invaluable assets of each and every travel organization.

Hong Kong Travel & Tourism Training Centre (HKTT) was set up in August 1995. Our aims are to provide good practical knowledge to those who would like to join the travel industry or to those who are already working in the field to enhance their knowledge. Members of our management have over 25 years of experience in the Hong Kong travel and tourism industry.

HKTT was officially approved by the Hong Kong Education Department as a registered Educational Institute in 1996. Also, we were appointed as one of the training providers by different governmental programmes including the Employees Retraining Scheme (1996), the Youth Pre-employment Training Programme of the Labour Department (2000), the Skills Upgrading Scheme (2002) and the Skills Enhancement Programme of the Education and Manpower Bureau of the HKSAR (2003).

HKTT is evolving to adapt to the new competing environment. Apart from offering training courses, we also act as a consultant by offering a one-stop service from recruitment to subsidized professional training leading to cost-effective employment.

To train fresh graduates so that they may fill different positions in tourism related organizations.

To provide refresher courses for those already working in the industry and who wish to upgrade their skills and professional knowledge.

To provide knowledge for those who would like to switch their career to the travel industry from the other industries.

To provide professional consultancy service in recruitment and training

To promote personal competencies and service quality of the travel and tourism industry personnel in Hong Kong, HKTT provides a variety of training courses on many aspects. For example, travel & tourism, language and customer service. We understand that technology can flourish the economy for the tourism industry and the next generation. With the establishment of our Information Technology & Business Education Centre (ITBEC), which provides a series of training and services related to Information Technology, we can enhance the knowledge of the industry personnel.

Apart from providing training services, Employment Service Branch was set up to refer suitable candidates or students to fill the vacancies of the travel companies.

Furthermore, Travel & Tourism Training Teaching Resources Centre (TTTRC) was also set up to help the teachers teaching the subject of Travel & Tourism in secondary schools. By providing constant supplementary teaching information to our members, TTTRC helps to renovate their thoughts.

There are over fifteen thousand of graduates since the establishment of HKTT and we have successfully placed many of our students in the travel and tourism industry. The most tangible proof of success is perhaps the number of enquiries we have been receiving from airlines and travel agencies, national tourist offices and hotels, etc, who wish to offer employment to our students. The demand is such that we have had to set up a separate branch to deal with job vacancies. We therefore feel confident that our training centre has the capability and resources, not only to train people to fill positions in the industry but also to raise the standard of the employees.
